IF YOUR LIFE WAS A BOOK, WOULD ANYONE WANT TO READ IT?

I’ve always been jealous of birds and their ability to fly wherever they please. Then I realize I have that same ability.

Artist Unknown

A long time ago I heard the famous question - If your life was a book would anyone want to read it?  My immediate thought was probably not.  Today, more than ever, I’m trying to change that by living a more venturesome life.  I find myself embarking on difficult and unusual courses of action in order to satisfy my urges.

And last but not least LiveUnbound is now on Instagram @weliveunbound

THOSE THAT ARE WILLING TO GET LOST WILL BE FOUND

We often point the steering wheel towards an appealing destination but with our foot stuck on the brake.  If you know what you want but aren’t taking action towards it then remember that if a car is not driven regularly, it doesn’t start.

Drive Without A Map

We live in a culture where we are constantly reminded about the risks of being bold and exploring new ground.  We’re so consumed with the dangers of shining brightly that we’ve become content with the darkness.

The alternative is to take a leap into the unknown, to drive without a map, to live unbound.  Inspired by this newfound freedom, you’ll fly far higher than you’ve been taught is possible.

No there isn’t a safety net to catch you if you fall but that’s what makes your accomplishments, your talent, your work, your life so extraordinary.

This post was inspired by “The Icarus Deception” a new book by Seth Godin.

DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS, KEEP SLEEPING.

Everyone has a dream or an idea of what they want their lives to be but so many people don’t take action towards it.  That’s because it’s not the dream itself that motivates us to reach for it, it’s believing that it’s within our reach.  Our brain fights this notion; telling us it’s unrealistic, illogical and even foolish but don’t listen.  Keep sleeping.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

I started LiveUnbound exactly a year ago and because of supporters like yourself, it’s become my primary focus.  Most of what I create is not only to inspire others but to energize myself as I make my own transition into living unbound.  It’s hard to leave behind a comfortable life but I do my best work when my own life epitomizes the message I’m trying to convey.  The future might be full of uncertainties but who wants to know the ending of a movie before they see it?!

Follow Your Fears

If you’re going through a difficult time, consider the possibility that right now you’re exactly where you need to be.

When parasites slip into oysters and threaten their survival, their natural reaction is not to fight it off. Instead they cover it up with the same substance that is used to create their protective shell. Overtime this process creates one of the most admired objects in the world, the pearl.

Instead of trying to eliminate problems or avoid fears; run towards them. They’re your stepping stones to greatness.

FAILURE IS BETTER THAN REGRET

Most people do more to avoid pain than they do to gain pleasure.

Take a moment to imagine yourself at 90 years old, sitting in a rocking chair, looking back at your life.  You recall encountering a wall which separated yourself from the life you desired and deciding to walk in the opposite direction. You imagine what your life would have been like if you took the leap.

Come back to the present and decide between – the possibility of failure or the inevitable regret.

The Most Important Question

Everyone has a dream.  Most people even know how to achieve it (or at least where to start). But yet they don’t.  Why?  Because we have to balance our hopes and dreams with feeding ourselves, paying debts, or finding work.  But having the security of that next paycheck is not worth a life of restricted potential.

Imagine your goals and dreams as a distant mountain. When life gets very difficult and confusing, stop and ask yourself: am I on the path towards or away from the mountain?  As long as you keep walking towards the mountain, you'll be alright.

The Strength To Suffer

It’s not easy to abandon your dreams, to accept a lesser life, to settle for mediocrity; but human beings have become quite good at it.  In a persistent effort to avoid risk and uncertainty, people have developed the strength to suffer.  This strength weighs you down, inhibits your growth and keeps you far from the incredible person you really are.

DO 1 THING YOU'RE AFRAID OF EVERYDAY

To most people being afraid means hide, regress and do anything you can to restore the feeling of safety.  But ask yourself - where would you be in life if you associated your fears with opportunity, progress, discovery and satisfaction?

Nobody is fearless but some have the boldness to embrace their fears.  They understand that they are stepping stones to greatness.

SEEKING TRUE HAPPYNESS TAKES COURAGE

Once a caterpillar becomes a butterfly it doesn’t stay in its cocoon, it flies.  If you’re trapped inside the comfort of the walls which inhibit your growth, remind yourself that you’re wasting a good set of wings.

HOPELESS SITUATION TO ENJOYABLE CHALLENGE

I recently got this incredible message:

On September 14th I was rushed to the ER with severe acute pancreatitis and my liver and kidneys were starting to call it quits as well.  I don't remember my first 26 days there but I remember waking up and checking live unbound and seeing a post that carried me through everyday there, the bed rest at home, the first walks I took and the first trip back to the gym to regain the 40 lbs I had lost. The post said, "Dare to believe that something inside of you is superior to circumstances, this state of mind turns seemingly hopeless situations into enjoyable challenges." I have gained almost all my weight back, stopped drinking and living unhealthy for 76 days now and I've never been happier. Thank you live unbound.

That post was my take on a Bruce Barton quote which is “Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance.”  This story encouraged me to always share and spread words of inspiration, there’s always someone who needs them.

ACTION CURES DOUBT

Doubt is the result of our powerful imagination used to visualize the worst possible outcome. This expectation of failure causes inaction, making us lose the good we could have won.

We can’t think our way to self-assurance, we need proof that we’re worthy of the confidence we seek. That’s why taking action is the only thing that can cure our doubts. Prove them wrong and watch as your newfound courage guides you to new heights.

LOGIC VS. TRUTH

Logic is the greatest enemy of truth.  Like Ambrose Bierce said: “It’s the art of thinking in strict accordance with the limitations of the human misunderstanding.” When we feel like we can, logic justifies why we can’t.  Just as important as learning is unlearning the lies which restrict our potential and suffocate our imagination.
